About Common Proficiency Test for Chartered Accountants

The Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is the first level entrance examination for aspirants of a CA degree. Conducted twice a year - in June and December, the exam is for students who have cleared Class X or XII. Students who have completed their graduation or post graduation are exempt from this exam, and they can take direct admission to IPCC.

An objective-type test, with 0.25 negative marking for incorrect answers, the test covers four broad subjects: Accounting, Mercantile laws, General economics and Quantitative Aptitude. Students have to attempt and clear two sets of papers.
